I really really really need a good book. A book I can sink into and get away from everything else over vacation.
I’ve been struggling to find a book I can get into. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

it’s not exactly a happy book, but i recently read “the lovely bones” and i couldn’t put it down! i bought it on a friday evening and was done with it by saturday afternoon. i’m currently reading “wicked” and though it’s really good, it’s hard for me given i’ve seen the show and now can’t make the book do justice to the story the same way live theater did.
I felt the same way about the Lovely Bones! I was really creeped out at parts but I remember getting completely engrossed in it!
Hmm yeah, I always love reading books before movies/theatres but I have such a hard time reading them after. I picture the characters from the show too much!
Two really good books if you like murder/mystery are ‘Sharp Objects’ by Gillian Flynn and the one I’m reading currently ‘Still Missing’ by Chevy Stevens.
Awesome, these are going on my list!
Have you read In the Woods?
Anything by Jodi Picoult, particularly The Pact and My Sister’s Keeper.
If you’re not in the mood for a tear jerker though (and both are, but really, they’re so damn good) a really fun chick-lit book is Something Borrowed.
And I loved Julie and Julia. Okay I’m done. Obviously I love to read haha.
I loved both The Pact and My Sister’s Keeper! Luckily I read My Sister’s Keeper before the movie although the movie was good too. I (dumbly) watched it on a plane and was a blubbering mess – I think everyone else on that plane wanted to be far far away from me!
I could use a fun book, Something Borrowed is going on my list!
Haha, I love it – any suggestions are awesome! I find it’s hard among some of my friends since I tend to read nightly so any time they mention a book I’ve already read it so I absolutely love getting suggestions from others 🙂
Oh, I thought of another book at is great if you want something – laugh out loud – funny! “Are Your There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea” by Chelsea Handler.
I just bought 2 fun books because I do like chick lit in between the others…the new Jane Green and the new Sophie Kinsella. Yeah, I know, I know. I’m a nearly 34 year old woman and I still love these things.
I also just started Honeymoon in Tehran and Behind the Burqa, but I have to be in the right mindset to get all fired up like i do when I read these.
Have a great holiday 🙂
Oh, and I second the Chelsea suggestion – I love me some Chels!!!
