When my alarm went off at 5:15am this morning I think I actually said, “oh hell no” before turning it immediately off. I missed my running class which I slightly regret now. The silly thing is, I thought I could catch up on sleep. Wrong, I felt guilty for about 20 minutes trying to fall back asleep, and then Bentley woke up anyway so we headed downstairs to play and have breakfast until the Husband came home and I could shower.

Shortly after the Husband got home he played and did a little command practice with Bentley while I got ready. It’s a really good feeling to watch the two of them together.

Since having breakfast we wanted Bentley to go back out to potty one last time before going into the crate until the dog walker would arrive 10am. As of the last few days Bentley has decided he hates if it’s wet out (i.e. raining or snowing), and pretty much acts like we are taking him to get beheaded when we ask him to go outside to potty.

Finally, at 7:45am when I needed to leave to catch my train, the Husband and I coaxed Bentley out onto the deck with us. We stood there in the falling snow, the Husband still in uniform, myself in my work clothes, sweetly saying over and over, “Go potty Bentley, go potty”.

As he started to sniff around, his sign of going, we immediately looked at each other with smiles.

And he went potty.

And at the exact same time, the Husband and I, at this point covered in wet snow looked at each other, shouted “YES!!!!” at the same time and started laughing.

These are the silly little moments we celebrate together now. And they’re heartwarming in a way I can’t even describe.
